Encounter With Nemo

ufo

Riding home from work and I see a flash of light beaming in the woods, shinning across the dash of my pickup truck. It really has shocked me to no end. What could this be? I slowed down the truck wheels, grinding to a stop. I really have to fix that right rear brake on this Ford. I’m not sure what to expect walking around the bend to investigate the glowing light in the woods. I am on a back road in Maine, where houses are far and few between. I  wonder if I  have made a big mistake stepping out of my truck at five-o’clock in the morning. I’ve decided to move forward, a little reluctant, scared? Maybe. As I start approaching the edge of the woods I can see a formation or metal looking structure that is on fire. I can feel the intense heat from quite a ways from the obstacle. There is a bunch of tree’s off to the right, I’m thinking that if I can get there I can get some cover from the heat and get a better view of the carnage. Upon my closer inspection, I can hear music of some sort coming from the vessel, or whatever it is. It sounds to me like jibbersh sounds, kind of galactic noises, nothing like any music we have ever heard on this planet. I want to get closer look to really find out what this thing is. I looked back to the road and no other cars have traveled it so I have no help. I’m feeling a little bit nervous, no really nervous to go out and investigate any further by myself. The crazy side of me has taking over so I grab my gonads and move forward. I was about twenty feet from the vessel what I hear a moaning sound. At first I thought it was the music I was hearing, this was not to be . I see movement on the right side,  this is not a human but some oddly looking creature with big green eyes. The arms and legs of this thing looks to be as long as a moose here in Maine. The arms and legs are flailing all over the place, I can tell it is in severe distress. Could it be that this vessel is a UFO? I am one not to believe in all this stuff, but right before my eyes is a true specimen to the fact it is not human. I walk closer, Hey! You. Can I help? Stupid me thinking this thing can talk our language. Hey You! Again no answer. I  am now at the feet of this creature, I am in awe of the size of its feet. The feet must be the size of a piglet, real round and fat. Moaning still coming from the creature. I get down real close as to get a better look at the face. I am about a foot from the face when it lets a howl, I fall back, landing on some pine bowels. I get back onto my feet and grab one of the arms to help this creature sit up. I pull with all my might when it is sitting there looking me in the eyes. It has me in a spell, a trance,  bright big green eyes are pulling into my mind, I feel myself becoming one of them. I can now also hear a voice. The  language is getting clearer now. The creature is talking English and is speaking directly to me. My name is NEMO and what is yours? I’m Rick from Livermore, you have crashed into a cornfield, Are you Alright? Yes, Nemo answers back. I ask a simple question, How did you get here? He starts telling me that his planet was destroyed by a meteor and the only reason he survived was because he was out on a training mission . He told me how his planet was on a mission to wipe out a planet called Earth and that he was going to be the lead attacker. Nemo told me that his GPSR unit had failed and he was not sure where earth was. He also couldn’t fly the ship because the navigation is all controlled by the GPSR unit and no override to control. I walked closer to the ship and was about to peek inside when I felt a sharp laser on my right shoulder, taking me to the ground, my arm was completely severed, I was fading away. Nemo took one more shot with the laser, I was gone. I can hear voices calling again, Nemo? What are you talking about Richard? You must be in a dream, it is time to wake up and bring me to work. Have a great day everyone, always good to be a dreamer.

Please Answer Me

eastern

Did you hear me calling? I do not know how many times I have called and left a message. Please call me it is important. I’m not trying to annoy you honey, this is really important. Why are you not answering your telephone? I need you now, please pick up the phone. I lay here inside this cold truck, upside down on its roof, I am shivering . The phone is about to lose the last remaining charge, no one will answer me. My head is hurting real bad when I smacked it on the windshield. My leg is pinned under the dashboard. I thought I heard something up over the embankment, I am holding my breath so that I can hear the faintest sounds.  I hear some growling, Have I become a meal for the wild animals? Please honey answer the phone, I need you.

Time throughout the night is in fragments. I do believe that I fell asleep only to be awakened by animal sounds. I cannot get the fact out of my head that coyote’s are out there, stalking its prey. I do believe I’m a sitting duck for feed. I make another phone call to my wife. Ring, Ring, Ring, no answer on the other end, I hang up the phone. A crashing sound again, this time real close. I look outside the window and staring me in the face is a large coyote. I am in fear like no other. I try to make myself real small and curl up into a ball but I am stuck, unable to move. The animal growls, stares me down and lunges at the window to let me know he is in charge. I am shaking so bad my teeth are chattering, it is not going to end good. The coyote runs to the other side of the truck, an open window is on that side. I can feel the breath of the animal, sharp teeth crunching down, pain. The phone is ringing, I cannot answer, I hear nothing, the phone has died, I have died.

Backyard Soldiers

sway

I was awaiting the arrival of my new six-horsepower weed-whacker from Bomen’s Store when I heard the coffee pot percolation complete. Oh, the smell of a fresh brewed coffee. I was pouring the coffee when I heard a vehicle come up the driveway. Oh, great my weed-whacker is here. I finished pouring my coffee when out the back window I saw a man dressed in camouflage and carrying a M16 rifle. I jumped back when I saw him point the gun toward the house and then started shooting. The glass in my kitchen window shattered into a million pieces and shards cut through my left arm, slicing layers of skin. I rolled around and was able to crawl to the other side of the house. Army men were surrounding the house and my dog Kogen was barking like crazy, unaware of the impending array of ammo coming toward us. I knew my wife was upstairs getting herself ready for work, I hollered up to her. Martha, are you alright? No answer, I hollered again with the same results. I needed to get upstairs to check on her but also this is where I kept the gun closet and my special MK-115 Carbine/Grenade Launcher. The bullets were making a mess of the house and the noise was beyond the 85 decibels that the ear can handle. I was trying to plug my ears but stay protected somewhat too. I was at the bottom of the stairs and I hollered up again to Martha, Honey, Are you ok ? Answer Me, Martha!  She crawled to the top landing, injured from the bullets flying through the house. Blood was coming out of her mouth, probably a chest wound.  She was holding something metallic, It was my MK-115 Carbine, she pushed it down over the top edge of the stairs. The gun sliding all the way down and into my hands. I was feeling very secure right now and checked to see if there was ammo inside the weapon. There was a full gun clip and also two grenades. I looked back up the stairs to thank Martha, I could tell she was no longer with us. Oh, no my dear Martha. The bullets are still flying through the house when I got close to a window and launched a grenade out the back window. I crawled out to the front of the house and launched my second grenade. The smoke cleared and I listened for sounds, there was none. I opened the front door and standing in front of it was a soldier, he was pointing his gun at me and mine was pointing at him. We both shot and I felt something penetrate my left arm. I fell to the ground within a seconds. The soldier fell to the ground also, I looked into his eyes, he was dead. I stood outside for quite some time in shock from all that had happened. I stood motionless, needing to find an answer to why these men were at my house. I had to check on Martha, I walked to the top of the stairs and there she was. She opened her eyes and smiled at me. You cannot get rid of me that quick, she replied. I thought you were dead, no honey I will be ok, but get me out of this broken down house. We stumbled around trying to get out of the house, the two of us, arm and arm, alive.

Jay Hill Pass-The Creature Within

creature

It was a very scary drive through the Mountain Pass this morning. I was traveling through Jay Hill Pass when up ahead I see a trucker with his flashing lights on. I slow my truck down to see what is going on, when out of the corner of my eye, I see what the commotion is all about. The trucker has come in contact with this green slimy looking creature. This anomaly is at the back of the trailer when I am frozen with fear of what I have seen.  This animal or creature, has the driver and is dragging him to the edge of the woods.  It is now out of my view so I decided to get out of my truck to see where the creature is taking him. I walk to the side of the trailer, ever so slowly, to witness something I would never dream of.  I am only feet away and I can hear counting, one and two, one and two, one and two, this goes on, over and over. The animal is giving chest compressions and breathing for this trucker. He is actually giving him a chance of life. I watch for quite some time, being of witness to something so fascinating. I can now hear a cough, the man is breathing , alive, the creature moves back into the woods, I am in left in awe.

Day I Was The Hunted

pterodactyl

I was out hunting this morning and heard a sound like no other. It really brought a chill up and down my spine and I almost peed my pants. It was a good thing I remembered to bring my shotgun out this morning. I was just going out to look for sign’s of deer, my brother and I was going out back this weekend. I heard the sound again, this time high in the tree’s. I got down on my knee’s and cocked my head to see what was above. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. A pterodactyl with wings the size of my house. It couldn’t be, those things do not exist, right? I thought they were only in museum’s around the world. I raised my gun and looked through the scope of my 300 savage rifle. I could see the eyes, it was peering down on me like I was the snack he was looking for. I decided to jump back up and run as fast as I could back to the house. I turned and looked up again, in the tops of the tree’s,  looking back down at me was a grey squirrel. I blinked my eyes again, I was sure I saw a pterodactyl. The things one thinks of when being a dreamer. Good Day Folks. Happy Hunting.

An Intruder Within the Ranks

InvasionThere was an imposter within our battalion. It seemed like every move we made out in the jungle while out on patrol we were ambushed. It was like someone knew every move we were making. I was a sniper in our little squad and we came with three squads to this remote area. Our instructions were to capture the leader of this region so he could be tried for war crimes.

I had thoughts about maybe someone in this group being a trader and really didn’t want to say anything. The reason I suspected someone at first was because every night when it came down to, our time ,he was never around. The other men in our squad would hang together but he always seemed to disappear for about forty-five minutes then return like nothing ever changed.

Our commanding officer had his own tent and was set-up about forty meters from everyone else. I decided it was time to let the C.O. in on what I was thinking. Sir, I saluted him, Can I have a word with you? At ease soldier, he commanded me. Sir? I have been having questioning thoughts in my head about something. It seems like every time we go on a patrol we are attacked almost like clockwork. I feel someone in our group is contacting someone. I sense it is someone in my squad. Private! Those are strong accusations. Sir, I do not want anyone in our squad to be killed because I didn’t do something about it. I feel it is, Private Rickard, and I want to spy on him, to gather more evidence against ,if this is confirmed with you, C.O.

I was granted permission and the next time we came back from a patrol I was going to set my plan in action. I was going to follow private Rickard and find out what really was going on.

We had just returned from a patrol and was relaxing when I see private Rickard slip out off to my far right. There was a mango tree at the edge of our camp so I decided to hide behind it. I could see that he was moving further into the jungle. I kept following him and what I found totally made my mouth drop. Rickard was laying on the ground and cuddling a native woman from the Sameon Tribe. This had to be where the information was being passed about our daily recon runs. I decided to watch a little longer when I see the woman reach out and grab a walkie talkie and report something in her native tongue. What came next took me by total surprise. She reached out from the bushes and pulled out a large knife and stabbed Rickard into his heart. I could see the life coming out of Rickard in a hurry. I took out my service revolver and turned on the silencer, I took aim. The bullet hit her square between the eyes and she dropped. I could see Rickard was hanging on, barely, I came up to him. Rickard! I need to asked you a question. Have you been passing information to the Sameon Tribe? He nodded yes, then he passed right there. I came back to my commanding officer and reported what just happened.

Time went on and the ambushes were still very consistent, like nothing had changed. Someone else was working for the Sameon group and I was going to find out whom. I watched everyone with careful eyes and reported in my journal anything out of the ordinary. If I could find some inconsistencies then maybe I would follow this person around a bit more closely. I watched everyone for about three weeks and really didn’t find anything that was not normal in our operations. The one person that I hadn’t been able to watch was our commanding officer. Why didn’t I think of this earlier? I was going to figure a way to watch the C.O., Maybe this was the missing link.

I laid in the bushes next to the C.O’s. tent and was listening to his conversations with other officers by satellite phone. All of the sudden, I could hear a man speaking in Sameon dialect. It was my commanding officer. I was no expert in language and couldn’t understand what he was saying, but I could smell a rat. How was I going to take care of this rat without putting myself in jeopardy. I decided to relay this information to other members in my squad. You guy’s are my best buddies and you would do anything for any other member correct? They all responded positively. You guys, I believe our commanding officer is a rat. I overheard a confirmation via satellite phone and he was speaking in Sameon. I know he is telling the other side of our whereabout’s every night. He is going to get us all killed. The plan I have includes all of you guys to assist me in the capture of our C.O.

The look on everyone’s eyes told me that they meant business. I told everyone to have their weapons locked and loaded. We all met behind and off to the side of the C.O. tent. I was going to storm into the tent at gun point and command the C.O. to raise his hands. I ran in fast and pointed my weapon at him. The laser site was lined up between his eyes. In a moment of me commanding him, he kicked something from within his desk. I looked down real quick and spotted a grenade. I dove out the front door at the same time it exploded.

The last I remember was seeing the grin on the commanding officer’s face. A look of distrust, not one of a killer of his own men.  He was smiling, like he was happy.

It was later found out that our C.O. had made a connection with the Sameon group and lots of money, in American ,was going to be transferred into his account in the U.S.

So always watch your back and make sure to be vigilant in your surroundings. What seems like normal operation may be a cover up of something that will get you in the end. Hoorah!

Merchant Ship Isabella

untitled

I was on the merchant ship Isabella and the cargo was a dangerous load of bombs destined for the war in Europe. The day started out in the Portland,Maine dockside loading all day with the stevedore’s, the dock workers who load the ship. It was a warm day with the wind blowing slightly from the north. My coworker and I had the day to explore so we took off into the city of Portland. We walked down Congress Street and was noticing that all the streets were cobblestone. I had never seen streets like this anywhere in the States. The boys and I decided to get a bite to eat and have some mugs of beer. We was talking with this one man inside the bar and asked where he came from. My name is George Thurman, I was a sea captain years ago and I’m retired from working. I spent my entire life working at sea and now I am enjoying staying grounded. How about you boy’s? He replied. I told him that I started a year ago working on the Isabella and I was nineteen years old. We told the old sea captain we had to leave and said our goodbye. Til we meet again boys, bon voyage, and tipped his beer at us.untitled

We loaded ourselves onto the ship and within twenty minutes we were off. It was a sunny day and my buddy and I were on the deck taking in all the scenery around the Portland waterfront. The Isabella was off and we sailed all through the night. The swells were starting to get bigger and the ship was rocking back and fourth. I decided to go check the cargo hold where the bombs were being stored. They were loaded in the front of the ship and stacked like cord wood. I was starting to hear some clanking, like metal to metal, but really couldn’t see anything loose. I went back up topside and reported this to the captain. The captain told me to make regular checks and to keep reporting back to the bridge of the findings.

The sea was getting worse by the moment and now the ship was rolling and moving up and down. My buddy Ricardo and I decided to take another check of the cargo hold. What we found was very concerning. The bombs that were stacked like wood had now tumbled and were all loose. The bombs were being tossed around every time the ship rolled. They would clank against the ships hull. We ran up topside to tell the ships captain when we felt and heard an explosion. I looked up and the whole front of the ship was flying through the air. The bombs had detonated and I was thrown backward and hit my head on the edge of a railing but was still conscious. Ricardo was knocked into the water, I awoke in my daze to realize that I had to try and save Ricardo. MAN OVERBOARD! I hollered this three times and no one came to help. I took a life preserver and tossed it overboard to try and help Ricardo but he was long gone.

The ship stopped moving and I could see the front of the ship starting to go nose down. We were sinking real fast and I had to find something that would float. There was some foam sheets along edge of the railings that I could use. I ripped them off the railing and prepared myself to go overboard in a last attempt to save myself. I couldn’t see if anyone else was trying to get off the ship. I looked up at the bridge and I could see the Captain calling on the radio. I’m sure the communication lieutenant was tapping out Morse Code, SOS-SOS-SOS. Save Our Ship was being repeated. The ship was now listing to port and I could tell that this ship was going down real fast. I had my foam sheet and was prepared to jump into the sea. The captain came out of the bridge and hollered. Abandon Ship! That is all I needed to jump into the cold and salty waters. One-two-three and I jumped.

The coldness of the water took my breath away at first and the salt in my eyes made it hard for me to see anything. I was able to see others jumping off the ship but I had no energy to swim over to help them out. I laid on my sheet of foam and floated away from this area. I took one last look when the ship finally made its last plunge to the depths of the ocean. I floated for hours and with the day being sunny I was able to warm my body. I looked out over the ocean and could not see land anywhere. I had no water or food and I was starting to worry that I would die on this floating device.. I dozed off to the sounds of seagulls.

I woke up and looked out to the horizon and could see land. I was coming up to a beach of some sort and I could see people laying on the sand. I was wondering if maybe they were survivors of another ship wreak. I could see men and woman and children playing in the water. I could see many woman in bikini’s, with their bodies all tanned up from basking in the sun. I could see a Ferris wheel  and could hear music playing in the distance. What is this place I had floated too? Some kind of Utopia, and Circus? I came to rest on the shore, this one young lad comes up to me and kicks sand in my face. Hey Mister? What kind of stupid surfboard is that? I opened my eyes to see this little brat smirking at me. I raised myself and starting looking for other shipmates. I cannot see anyone. I see this very attractive lady in the distance. I walk up to her and ask her where is this place? Her reply is Portland Head Light, Maine.  I had left from Portland, Maine. untitled

I thought about what had happened. The bombs were stacked like wood and with the rolling of the ship there was friction on the surface of the bombs. It only took a jolt up and down and this is what discharged the bombs. There was no other survivors- I wondered now if I was even on a ship or if I was dreaming.

My Firefighter-Medic Life

imagesI read an interesting story about a firefighter who was teased about what he does for work. There was an family get together and this one well to do guy comes up to the firefighter and makes a statement. So how is the checkers games going? The firefighter looks at this guy and was about ready to smash him in the face for this rude comment. The firefighter finally gives him a one-two punch.

I drive down every highway around here with ghost haunting me. I remember this couple that was in an accident where the girl is dead and the boyfriend is pinned in the car. The man keeps asking if his girlfriend is alright. The firefighter/medic responds with. she is being taking care of. The girl is dead and he has to lie to the fellow. I personally have been put in this situation. Is anyone really prepared to be of witness to such horrific incidents without some long term affects. I would need another call to reset my memory from the last horrific incident.

I am not alone in this personal affects of the brain. It is compared to PTSD, many firefighters/medic’s are afflicted with this. Still to this day I remember the accident’s like it happened yesterday. There is crosses in the road which are reminders of the incidents that I witnessed. It is somewhat of a trigger every time I see these on the highways.

Back to the man at the gathering. So the firefighter responds with another one. I was at an accident where the mans head was severed from a flying object off a pulp truck. He was not just a object that got struck. He was a man with a wife and four young children.  The firefighter responds to the yuppie, So, my checkers game is good. It is the only thing that takes my mind off the horrific incidents I see on my job. I don’t just sit around” asshole” playing checkers all the time. I don’t sit behind a desk with smooth hands and wearing a three piece suit. The next time you see a firefighter remember what they have been through. There is moments on the job that we sit around for the next call but the next call might be your love one that needs our help.

Something to ponder about. I have been witness to a lot in my years of public service. This is what I do and very proud to help people in dire need. I am a firefighter on a on-call department. I was an EMT years ago and have worked on the job site as a firefighter-medic-hazmat tech for 25 years in local paper mills. I have witness many things in my life. So the next time you see a paramedic or firefighter please tell them you support everything they do. Good Day Everyone.

The Haunted House

unger_haunted_house

Tales of the haunted house. I was only nine years old and the kids in the neighborhood had told me that they heard a piano playing in the haunted house one night. That place is spooky said Nard and Unie, childhood nicknames.

I grew up in a very rural country area where farming was a business or necessity for most of the people. From my backyard, or to the edge of the back of my parents property, was a cow pasture. The kids in the neighborhood and I would play in these fields dodging cow patty’s and pucker brush. In the far distance and too far to see from where I lived was an old broken down house we called the haunted house.

The time is winter and my dad had bought an old snowmobile that required changing the spark plugs all the time because one side or the other was always fouling. This was very normal for sleds back in the day. My dad had taught my brothers and I how to change a plug. You get the tool-kit from out of the back and counterclockwise to loosen. He would always say lefty loosey, righty tighty. The other trick was to pull the pull cord several times to get some gas in the cylinder. He always kept a bic lighter in the back and you would put it over the open cylinder and touch it off. It would burn the old gas and then you would put the new spark plug back on and usually it would run.

One night I was driving by the haunted house and the plug started to foul. I stopped right in front of the haunted house. I was getting the tools out to change the plug when I heard music playing. Someone was playing the most beautiful piano I have ever heard. I then heard something bang within the house like a chair tipping over. My eyes widened and I started to get very scared. I thought someone was going to come out and grab me so I started running down the snowmobile trail as fast as I could run. It was about a mile back to the house and it was pitch dark outside. I was running and looking back and not seeing anything. I heard a howl within the woods. Now I’m really scared shitless and my pace increases like no other. I finally got to the fence line behind my parents house and tears are running down my face. I reached the house and start hollering for my parents.

I reached the porch of the house and my mom and dad came out to see what all the commotion was . What is going on son? I broke down at the haunted house and someone was playing a piano. My dad looks at me and tells me there is no such thing as a haunted house. I’m  looking at him and thinking how can I reply to my dad with an answer that would make him believe. I didn’t have an answer. My dad was not too happy because now he had to go to the haunted house in the morning to retrieve the sled which required him to walk a mile up the trail to get it.

The kids in the neighborhood still talk today about the haunted house and one of my cousins who lived on the street came to visit it a few years back just to see it again. He told me someone bought the property and tore down the old house and had a new home built. I don’t blame them for tearing it down, it really was haunted, I know it.

Within The Forest Of Fire

plane%20crash%20kansas_1382128078871_3629612_ver1_0_640_480I was awakened by the sound of a loud crash. I looked outside and couldn’t see anything because of the darkness. There was a rumble that shook the whole house and I was freaking out. I put my clothes on in a hurry and made quick time downstairs to see if the house was damaged or a wall had come down. There was nothing to witness within the house, out of the corner window I saw a glow in the woods.

It was very cold out so I grabbed my jacket and hat and some gloves. I went to the cupboard and retrieved the flashlight. When I stepped outside the door I could hear a roaring sound with loud pops every minute or so. I walked closer to the glow and I could now smell something burning. I came to an opening in the woods, before my eyes, and strewn all over the place was burning debris for as far as I could see. The tops of the tree’s were on fire and fire throughout the forest for about five-hundred feet in width.

My mind was reeling and still I could not process what could cause such devastation. I started walking around the perimeter and I saw a suitcase, a doll lying on the ground covered in soot. I now understood what this devastation was. It was a jetliner that had crashed. I got on my cell phone and called 911. Here is the call. Hello dispatcher. I am in the woods and I believe a jetliner has crashed into my backyard. Sir, don’t play games with us. We are an emergency dispatch center and it is a crime to make false accusation’s about something of this nature. I am not fooling around miss, there is flames for as far as I can see. You need to send someone out here in a hurry. There might be people lying in the woods still alive. I’m going to walk around and see if I can find any souls. Sir? You are serious about this? Yes, I’m not kidding, send the fire department out right now. Ok, Sir, I will be dispatching the fire and rescue they will be there soon.

It must of been five or ten minutes and it seemed like the whole state had responded to this scene. I ran back to my house to check on my wife and two children. They were standing in the kitchen and understandably shaken by what they were seeing within the woods. Honey, a jetliner has crashed in the woods. My wife looks at me with a worry on her face. Honey? Is there any survivor’s? I do not know that answer dear but I’m sure the fire department will let us know soon.

We waited in the house for it seemed like eight hours and this one fire chief came into the house and told us that one soul had been found and is in critical condition. The person found was a young lady of around twenty-four years of age. Her passport stated she was from Istanbul and she was coming to America to become a chef in a famous New York restaurant .  I asked what hospital they were taking her too. Sir, they will be taking her to Presbyterian Hospital by the Bay. Ok, Thanks chief I appreciate this information.

I walked back out into the woods later when daylight came and was amazed at how much debris was strewn all over the woods. I could see a section of the wing and also the wheels from the jet. There was some things still burning but most of the fires were out. The firefighters had been there all night and were exhausted. The count of souls they found were to be two-hundrend and twenty-five. I started to cry and only had visions of how many families had lost their fathers, mothers, children, brother’s and sister’s. This was going to take me a long time to process and I hugged my family today. We all cried.

Flash Ahead

lightning flashThe lightning hit the telephone pole right in front of my eyes. It was a dark and rainy night and I was driving home from work on county road. I could see small lightning flashes ahead so I knew that I would be driving into a storm. This is not uncommon in the area that I live and to be honest I kind of like watching the flashes. The rain started picking up so I decided to move the wiper control to another notch. I was struggling hard to keep concentration on the road when all of a sudden I saw a big flash and heard a loud crash. I looked up and a telephone pole had been hit by the lightning. The only problem is the pole came crashing down right in front of me. I cranked the steering wheel to the left real hard and the car fishtailed and drove right off over an embankment and crashed into a large tree.

I’m sitting on a beach in the French Riveria and I can see all these first responders running down the beach. I’m thinking boy I hope they find who they are looking for because I’m sure someone is in dire need. Oh, the sun feels so good today and I think a nap is going to happen real soon. One more sip of my cocktail, sip, Ah!

Sir? Wake up. I open my eyes and I see a first responder hollering at me. I move my arm, or try to move my arm, pointing in the direction I saw the other responder running to. Sir? Are you ok? I’m very confused at this point. Why is he talking to me like something happened? Oh, my arm is hurting like someone pushed a dagger through it. Sir? You have been in an accident. Lightning struck a telephone pole and you swerved off the road and hit a tree.

Life can change in a moment. We need to enjoy every day and tell the loved one’s you love them every day. Lightning can flash in front of you and change everything.
